# Badges

Badges within the HelpSteps app serve as a way to showcase your reputation and contributions to the world. By completing milestones, reducing your carbon footprint, and supporting local organizations, you can earn badges in over 30 different ways. And with exclusive challenges available only to badge holders, there are always new ways to earn and showcase your achievements.

Badges not only serve as a way to show off your progress, but they also come with advantages such as HS multipliers and access to exclusive challenges. You can earn badges by participating in local challenges, donating your HS to certain NGOs, institutions, or sports clubs, and inviting your friends to join. And if you want to take your badges to the next level, you can even upgrade them using HSX tokens to earn even more HS with every step. So start earning badges and making a difference today!

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help-steps-1.gitbook.io/whitepaper/the-app/badges.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
